This is how Caboolture Maternity Unit refers to the midwife who is undeniably the smiliest person I’ve ever met. ‘Our Sam’ are words that are spoken with pride & spoken with truth. She is the midwife that everyone adores & loves, because, quite frankly, you can’t do anything BUT love her. She’s happy when she’s busy, she’s happy when she’s under pressure, she’s happy when she’s tired and she’s definitely happy when you are big-belly laughing together at 3 am on night duty! So when her big belly-laughs morphed into big-pregnant-belly laughs, I was over the moon for her & her husband TY.
You could be forgiven for thinking that to have such a charismatic, positive disposition, she had lived a charmed life up to this point. However, the tragedy of loss & grief that has been felt by Sam and her family over the past couple of years only serves to make this baby even more special for her family. Nothing can stop the rawness & agony of losing loved ones, but babies can certainly shine the most ubelievably healing light into the darkest parts of our existence.
On the 26th of February, baby Abigail came into the world, straight into the arms of the most amazing family. Her mission of spreading hope & love has been achieved already, and i can not wait to meet her!
But first, here is a glimpse of what she looked like when she was wrapped up lovingly by her mummy in the form of beautiful pregnant Sam
I live in Brisbane. I am a mother, a midwife and a photographer.
I discovered my love for photography after the birth of my daughter, Neve Lily-Kate. Her beauty drove me to work out how to translate what I saw in front of me, into an image I could treasure forever. And so the journey began.
